SEN Leader ( Internal Position -1 Year Secondment)
The Southwark Diocesan Board of Education Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an exceptional and values-driven leader to undertake the role of Strategic Leader of SEND on a one-year internal secondment basis.
This is an opportunity for an experienced school leader to shape and lead the next phase of our Trust-wide strategy, grounded in our Christian vision of creating inspiring learning communities where all can grow and flourish.
The successful candidate will work strategically across the Trust to drive our strategic plan, strengthen inclusive practice, develop leadership capacity, improve consistency of provision, and ensure every child with SEND experiences belonging, dignity, and high-quality support within their local school community.
The Role
- Working alongside the Executive Team, Headteachers, and SENCOs, the Strategic Leader of SEND will:
- Lead the implementation and development of the Trust SEND Framework across all schools.
- Provide strategic leadership, challenge, and support for SEND and inclusion.
- Strengthen Trust-wide consistency in SEND practice, provision, and outcomes.
- Develop systems for quality assurance, professional development, and evidence-informed practice.
- Support the development of inclusive provision, including informal and specialist models of support.
- Build leadership capacity through coaching, collaboration, and professional learning.
- Promote strong partnerships with families, local authorities, diocesan partners, and external agencies.
- Champion inclusive culture, belonging, attendance, and participation for pupils with SEND.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has significant experience of leading SEND and inclusion successfully within a school or Trust context.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- Ideally has experience of successfully leading resource base provision within the primary sector.
- Has excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current national priorities.
- Can think strategically while supporting practical school improvement.
- Can manage their time effectively and work to tight deadlines.
- Builds strong relationships and leads with integrity, compassion, and moral purpose.
- Is able to inspire, coach, and develop others.
- Shares and actively promotes the Trust’s Christian vision and values.
