Our Christian Vision

"Nurturing Faith & Inspiring Success"

As an Anglican school, we seek to nurture faith and inspire success. Through innovative teaching and working together, we foster independence, respect for one another and a love of learning. A varied curriculum, supported by the message of the Gospel, enables each child to flourish and provides them with the opportunity to achieve and make a positive contribution to society.

Our Curriculum

The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) was introduced at St Leonard's in 2012.  Originally designed for international schools and based on the English National Curriculum, the IPC has become increasingly popular in British schools thanks to its practical and creative topic-based approach to teaching and learning.

A typical IPC topic will last from 6-9 weeks and may cover as many as 6 different subject areas.  Literacy and Maths, RE and Modern Foreign Languages are not included in the IPC schemes of work, but teachers will often take the opportunity to link work in those areas to their current IPC topic.

The units are divided into Mileposts in conjunction with our Key Stages; Milepost 1 refers to Years 1 and 2; Milepost 2 refers to Years 3and 4; Milepost 3 refers to Years 5 and 6. The teachers in each Milepost will work together to map a series of balanced units over a 2 year cycle. This is to guarantee that all National Curriculum areas are covered and that the children have a broad and balanced experience.
