Headteacher's Welcome

St James Hatcham reflects a vibrant and dynamic community where every individual is celebrated, championed and empowered to succeed.

We pride ourselves on our excellent results, being one of the top performing schools in Lewisham, and our outstanding reputation for preparing children for entry into the top local secondary, grammar and independent schools.

As well as academic excellence, we believe in opening our pupils’ eyes to the world around them so that they discover their talents and passions. We do this through inspirational and specialist teaching, an exciting range of school trips, extensive clubs and activities and established connections with local, national and international organisations.

Everything we do is underpinned by exceptional pastoral care and our Christian ethos and values – love, hope, peace and joy. These promote high expectations and standards and encourage our pupils to appreciate and respect themselves, their world and the beliefs and cultures of others.

These values are displayed around the school and incorporated into our school assembly themes and during the school day.
